I see that you have posted a photo of your new boat. I believe I understand how to add a photo, but it would good if you posted a tutorial on how to do it for all to understand.
I believe that you need to have the photo on a photo site and provide a link, if that is so would it make sense for us to have a fleet site to make it easier for all?
Thanks |

No problem. If you're posting pictures within the message board, when writing the posting, you'll see above where you type a button titled Img. If you click this button, you'll see the word "img" show up within brackets. You would then type in the url to the photo you want to see, such as http://www.adriansullivan.com/sundaysloopers/etnz.jpg
Once you type in the address to the photo, you click the Img button again and it'll plop in the closing "/img" text within brackets.
For posting pictures on the main website itself, I think you have that down already, and only the website editors can do that.
Let me know if those instructions help!

The end result of the line would look like:
| Code: | | |

| I think you still need to have the photo in Photobucket or someplace on the web to get the url, you can't loaf it directly from your hard drive. Correct? |

You are exactly correct. The photo first needs to be on the internet, not on your pc, then you can reference it for the forum. There are a bunch of online photo archive places like photobucket that can be used, too.

I'll try to figure out how we can all use my site or if maybe Adrian can start the Sunday Sloopers PhotoBucket site so we can all use it to post pics.

I've been working on an album for the website for a few hours, I think I have it nearing completion. This is certainly a lot easier than building a boat.

Dave W has kindly posted photos I supplied in the body of a a direct posting in the Boats section. For general info can you tell us how this was done?

The first step in getting photos to show up on web pages is to resize them to a browser-viewable size (digital cameras these days take really detailed (read: large) photos, that need to be resized smaller to keep page loading time down. Once that's done, you'll need to upload them to a web server from your pc. Some ISPs offer a place to upload photos. If not, there are a ton of free services (like flickr http://www.flickr.com/).
Once you've uploaded the photo, you need to identify the url (link) to view it. Once you know the link, when in the forum and posting a message, you just need to precede and follow the url with a tag to get the forum software know to display the image. The tag is to start, and to end.
So your forum post would read something like:
| Code: |
Here is a picture of my controller:

|
....
but instead of showing the text, it would show this:

Adrian,
That's a really helpful explanation for those like me who struggle along with web stuff.
Can you recommend a suitable size for web posting? I have learned how to downsize.

It depends highly on where you're placing it and what detail you're looking to show. The image above is 800 pixels wide, which works well in this forum for a large detailed image. A smaller photo of a different subject would work equally as well, however.
Recognize that a lot of people on the internet have computer monitors that are 1024 pixels wide, or slightly wider, so you usually don't want to go bigger than 800-900 pixels, and a typical size is 320 to 640 pixels.
Here are two examples of the same image in differing sizes. You'll note that the first one is easier to view, because less scrolling is necessary, while in the second one it's easier to read the writing on the marker.
